Sometimes in our life we have a choice to make. Do we look to Jesus for the satisfaction and truth in life, or do we look to the world? Do we look to get our identity from those around us, our past and what we see in our future, by the worlds standards, or do we seek to get our identity from the one that created us, our Father?
It seems that we life in a world that seeks to have imediate satisfaction, so instead of taking the longer, sometimes tougher road to seeking the truth of God about us, we seek the quicker satisfaction and acceptance of those around us.
We’re choosing to live in the world and for the world instead of by the Word. This is a natural response as we are all human. However the longer, more difficult road will lead to much more joy and peace in the long term.
As we see in 1 John and described in the book Go Deeper in Christ,
“Christians have always had a love/hate relationship with the world. On one hand, the most famous verse in the Bible tells us that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.” If God loves the world that much, it seems like we should, too. But then you come to a passage like this, where John warns us not to love the world or anything in the world. So which is it—love or hate? Are we to forsake all worldly pleasures?”
Know that you are loved by God and that is all that matters. There is nothing you can do to lose his love, or make Him love you more.
